Flexible Working Legislation is a Flop
It’s my view that the Right to Request Flexible Working Legislation has held back its adoption in this country, rather than hastened it! It is a flop. Indeed, a whole Cottage Industry has built up around this conundrum.
This cottage industry supports:
A, Leaders who try to avoid requests
B. Employees who want to win requests
I am sure those who put in place the law thought they were doing the right thing – but it was always going to have an adverse effect – because it didn’t focus on the Customer and that is what Leaders do if they want their organisation is to be successful.
A Smart Workforce Wisdom, however, focuses on the Customer – what their needs are, feeds this back into the operating model and from this some beautiful Smart Working options emerge for employees And it focuses on Trust, whereas the Right to request Flexible Working process – well it has simply shattered that Trust in so many cases!
The time is now for a Smart Working Revolution.
